How to Change Your USPS Address

There are two convenient ways to complete a postal address change: online and in person. Whatever option that you choose, it is important to notify all necessary parties of your new address and make this formal change with USPS as soon as possible so that all of your important mail can be forwarded to the appropriate location on time.

Change Your Address Online

To change your address online, you will need access to the internet while using a computer, tablet or smartphone. It is recommended that you use a computer or tablet to fill out these forms. Then, once you have pulled up the official address change form, you can begin filling it out. The information needed on this form includes an e-mail address and a credit card number to pay the associated fee. Acceptable forms of payment for processing an address change online includes:

  • MasterCard
  • Discover
  • Visa
  • American Express
Post Office Address Change Fees

Once you have filled out the address change form, you can enter in your credit card information, billing address and mailing address. A fee of $1 will be charged for completing an address change form online.

Change Your Address in Person

If you would prefer to change your address in person, simply visit your local post office to submit the necessary paperwork. In order to change your address in person, you will need to bring:

  • A printed postal address change form that needs to be filled out
  • OR

  • A USPS address change form picked up at your local post office Once you have filled out and submitted your USPS address change form, you can then file this form with a postal worker who will then make your address change official in 7-10 business days.
